Amos Kojo Quaye (Ph.D.), is a Research Scientist the Soil Science Division of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG). His current research activities are focused on: Survey of soil nutrients status of cocoa regions of Ghana for Site Specific cocoa fertilizer recommendations; developing integrated soil fertility management packages for cocoa, and other mandate crops. Use of biochar and compost to improve acidic soils in cocoa production systems and for bioremediation of heavy metal and chemical residues in soil ecosystems. His research interests include investigations into the management, recycle and application of agro-industrial and municipal solid wastes for soil fertility improvement to enhance the productivity of agricultural, forestry and energy crops production systems. His professional goal is to develop sustainable practices and management of natural and biophysical resources as pertain to land use, agricultural productivity and ecosystem capabilities. He has worked as a research fellow and research scientist at the University of Ghana and the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agriculture Research Institute (BNARI) respectively. He has also worked as a Project Research Assistant with the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, evaluating the use of organic amendments to improve soil fertility and enhance the productivity of short rotation woody crops for biomass/bioenergy production with minimum environmental risks
