20 extension agents of Kuapa Kokoo attended a Partnership for Delivery (P4D) training workshop organized to improve their knowledge in Integrated Soil Fertility (ISFM) practices and good agricultural practices. The 5-day workshop was held in Kumasi from 27th September – 1st October 2021 under the theme “Improving Productivity without Deforestation”.

The workshop also aimed at introducing the extension agents to the CocoaSoils Program’s  Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning system and data collection requirements.  Additionally, it was geared towards building the capacity of participants to disseminate the CocoaSoils Programs’ ISFM recommendations and good agricultural practices to cocoa farmers.

The workshop took the form of lectures, discussions and multimedia presentations. Demonstrations and practical sessions took place on a cocoa farm in Asaman in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.

The workshop focused on composting, pruning, shade management practices, how to use organic matter to improve soil fertility and Integrated pests and diseases management practices among others.

As Partnership for Delivery (P4D) agents, the extension officers disseminate CocoaSoils Integrated Soil Fertility Management  (ISFM) recommendations and good agricultural practices to cocoa farmers across Ghana.
